the finished product:

i don't do bows. i don't know how. but it kind of is missing a bow. i think i might get more burlap and have my mom help me with a bow. she's really good at bows!
and please, take no note of my filthy white door. i asked aaron how to clean it because i tried today (for picture's sake) and nothing. i couldn't get any of the grime off. aaron's solution: paint. so i guess we will be painting our front door. i'm thinking black!
elle and westin were perfect angels. we only had to chase after each of them once. they pretty much just ran around the garage. i did a little sidewalk-chalking in their honor and then they sat pretty for a picture.

sweet sweet kids!
oh yeah, here is how we made the wreaths:
supplies needed:
grapevine wreath
spanish moss
fake pumpkins (obviously)
burlap
glue gun
and lots of glue sticks
basically all you do is glue moss all around the wreath. we just did the front and sides and left the back as is, we thought it would lay flatter against our doors. then you hot glue the pumpkins wherever you want them and then hang it by the burlap. we just made a big loop around the wreath and knotted it at the top and hung it on our hangers. easy peasy. i kid you not. i met shannon at 9:30 to get supplies, drove back to her house and made the wreaths and we were home a little after noon. yea, like i said, easy. just very very messy!

kb i love it!! i wish i could do wreaths on my frontdoor but i have two big wreaths on my actual house by the door all year lng it would just be too many wreaths on the house!
ReplyDeletei could always do my salon door...
where is elle's outfit from? it looks adorable!
ReplyDeleteHi Kari Beth,
ReplyDeleteI am not sure you will see this but I realllly hope so :) I stumbled on your blog while looking for ideas for my daughter's first birthday party and googling "fabulous first birthday". Your pictures were adorable and I was really impressed by how beautiful everything looked. I was so taken in fact that I am trying to actually imitate the way Elle Louise's birthday skirt matched the "happy birthday" sign you hung up and do it for my daughter's party. I was wondering if you could tell me where you found the solid brown letter appliques to spell out "happy birthday elle louise" on your sign. i just loove that look and I have been looking all over and can't find them... Thanks so much for sharing... I really like your blog and visit often...thanks
Love the wreath, but not as much as I love that Elle picture with her sweet feet and sidewalk chalked name! Can you tell me where you were buying those non-slip clips for her hair? My daughter wore her first barette/clippy yesterday and I paid $8.95 for it...OUCH! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAlli D,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words. I had SO MUCH FUN plannig and executing E's 1st bday party. I work at a monogramming shop and I bought the brown linen at hobby lobby and appliqued the letters on the Amy Butler fabric that matched her skirt and then cut out squares. I was going to make a bunting, but ran out of time so it turned into that. If you have anymore questions, please feel free to email me thehighlifeblog(at)gmail(dot)com. Thanks! And I hope you see this :)
Druz75, E's outfit is a hand-me-down from my cousin, so I'm not really sure where it came from. Isn't it so cute, though! I love it!
