tomorrow is my birthday. eeek. i'll be twenty-nine. my last year in my twenties. hope it's a good one. i walked into work today with a cookie cake on my desk from my co-worker, paula. so sweet and thoughtful. a quarter of it has already been devoured!
it feels like full-blown summer outside. hot and humid. my parents pool is officially open! i think i'll be taking elle to swim on friday rather than going to the park! i'm so excited for this time of year.
on monday elle's babysitter fixed her hair like this. its a constant battle of the wills when it comes to fixing her hair. oh, but how she loved this and was so proud! i told her i loved it and asked if she did and she said "i love it, take a picture"!! i need abuela to teach me her tricks. she does have 8 kids and a gazillion grandkids so she's had lots of practice!
hi, my name is kari beth and i'm addicted to drinks. it doesn't matter what it is i love having a drink with me at all times. water, tea, diet coke loaded with ice. i seriously pull through a drive-thru daily to get a drink. i don't like to pay much more than a $1 for a drink so if its not sonic happy hour i get a route 44 ice water with extra ice at sonic or an unsweet tea at mcdonalds...sippin on a water now. my happy hour drinks of choice are vanilla unsweet tea if its a good day or a vanilla diet coke if its been a rough day. i'm so dramatic.
did i mention its my bday tomorrow? i'm so excited about getting some moolah to go shopping with! i desperately need some new clothes. so desperately. ha. its a constant need. i cleaned out my closet two weeks ago. took two trash bags full of clothes and a laundry hamper to the local compassion center in town. i was sick of weeding through all the crap in my closet that i never wear/wore so i just decided to get rid of it! it felt dang good doing so...and guess what? i haven't missed a thing!
last night i made spicy dr. pepper pork from pw's new cookbook and oh my lands yum! and it made a ton. as you can see on our "menu" we're having veggie fajitas tonight but i'm totally going to throw some of that pork on mine. so delish. and not even kidding i threw it all together in the crockpot while elle was waiting for me in the car. onions, pork, can of chipolte peppers in adobo sauce and 2 cans dr. pepper cooked on high in your crockpot for 6 hours (or 350-degrees on the stove top).
mark ruffalo that plays the hulk in the new avengers movie was on good morning america today (and live with kelly). i'm really excited to see this movie. hopefully we get to the theater this weekend to see. it looks super entertaining. i still have yet to see, the hunger games. i really want to see this on the big screen too!
does your kid watch yo gabba gabba? if they do ask them who this is? ha! we drove past this on friday night and elle got so excited and screamed "oh. my. goodness. it's muno dancing."! it was hysterical! we died. since friday she has asked to go see muno dancing every time we get in the car. such a funny kid!
i'm taking a break from my sewing machine. i have several orders that need to be filled but i won't get the fabric for the orders in until friday or monday so for the next 2 days i'm not sewing. well...i take that back i have to sew one ruffle towel that has to ship by friday. but that's it. might try to get my machine in the shop tomorrow! it has been making some serious noices lately. lots of squeaking. it needs a good tune up!
my mom got elle this dress for her birthday and i've been saving it for a special occasion. she wore it over the weekend. it is even cuter on. we found it at lesley graham's shop, tiny fete. i'm obsessed with everything lesley makes. she's my sewing muse!
